In the heart of Astoria, a vibrant neighborhood known for its hip shops and lively atmosphere, a large-scale outdoor mural has brought a burst of color to the community. Commissioned by HRV, the mural adorns the side of their 5-story apartment building on Broadway Avenue. And adding a touch of vibrancy to the previously white wall.
Astoria’s Hip Vibe A Fun and Vibrant Mural
Astoria, with its bustling streets and diverse community, was the perfect canvas for a mural. One that would reflect the spirit of the neighborhood. HRV, recognizing the need for a visual centerpiece, reached out to us during the pandemic with the idea of a large-scale outdoor mural. HRV had a clear vision – they wanted a mural that would be fun, vibrant, and uplifting. They wanted something that would bring a smile to the community. Along with brightening up the street. And that’s where artist Jason Woodside and Graffiti Arts partnered.
Jason Woodside’s Signature Style
Jason Woodside, known for his colorful pattern murals, was the perfect choice for this project. His abstract, fun designs with a vibrant color palette were exactly what HRV was looking for. And while Woodside himself was in Australia due to travel restrictions, he trusted our team to execute his design. Executing Woodside’s design was no small feat. The mural, spanning the height of the building, required careful planning and execution. But Woodside is a pro. Clearly and meticulously dissecting the mural by colors and shapes. Making it easier for our team to bring his vision to life.
The Outcome: A Beautiful Mural That Captivates
The result is a stunning large-scale mural that’s (almost) as good as if Woodside had painted it himself. The vibrant colors, playful patterns, and abstract designs have transformed the once plain wall into a captivating work of art. Above all, it adds a touch of joy to the neighborhood. In a time when the community needed their spirits uplifted, the mural has become a source of joy and inspiration. Passersby stop to admire the artwork, and it has become a popular spot for photos and selfies. The HRV mural is not just a piece of art; it’s a testament to collaboration and the power of creativity to bring people together. It’s a reminder that even in challenging times, art has the ability to uplift, inspire, and bring joy to our lives.
Closing Thoughts: A Legacy of Color and Creativity
As we reflect on the journey of bringing the HRV mural to life, we’re reminded of the power of art to transform spaces and uplift communities. The mural will continue to be a vibrant symbol of creativity and collaboration. While leaving a lasting legacy of color and joy in the heart of Astoria.
